The Southern Poverty Law Center, a leading civil rights organization located in Montgomery, Alabama, seeks an experienced and creative Direct Response Manager for the Development Department.
The Direct Response Manager will be responsible for SPLC’s direct marketing fundraising programs, the direct marketing staff and vendors, and will manage a large direct marketing budget. The Manager will collaborate across all Development programs and all SPLC departments to create an energetic environment that integrates and maximizes fundraising efforts.
The Direct Response Manager is expected to coordinate message development, project, monitor, and report income and expense results, and develop comprehensive reporting systems to support the strategic analysis of the direct response programs. Direct response programs include, but are not limited to: new donor prospecting, house file mail efforts, telemarketing, canvassing, and donor cultivation and service programs.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible direct marketing duties including direct mail fundraising, capable of managing multi-million dollar budgets, and an experienced background in nonprofit membership programs. Strong management and communication skills are required.
